Segway Tour Dresden Review
One of my favorite ways to see a new city is by taking a Segway tour. Not only are they extremely easy to ride, they allow you to cover a massive amount of ground in what would take hours longer by foot. Of course, you could always do a walking tour, but then you wouldn't be able to stop anytime, anywhere to take photos like you can on a Segway Tour!
Segway Tour Dresden is very conveniently located; it is just minutes from the central train station. I am always nervous when going to a new tour, as sometimes the meeting points are a bit vague. Thankfully that was not the case with Segway Tour Dresden; the instructions were very clear and my guide arrived on a Segway early.
There was a short introductory session on how to ride a Segway and once everyone was comfortable riding we set off. The tour was awesome! Starting in the Gardens we drove by lakes, flowers, and even some live Zebras! Once out of the Gardens we headed across the river to get a great view of the art area. Carola was an awesome guide. She was always checking to make sure I was staying close, answered all my questions, and is a strong English speaker (which is always great for me since my German is terrible!). She knew the best spots to take photos from, and helped me take photos ofmyself riding the Segway. The Zwinger area does not allow Segways inside, so she stayed outside so I could take my time inside without worrying about the Segway. The tour was extremely comprehensive and gave me a real taste of the city. My German history is still not overly strong, so I really appreciated how she mixed historical facts with new stories. She also had a book with photos of the areas we visited before and after the war, which made it really interesting to compare to how they look today.
The thing that made this tour really stand out were the small touches. Carola really helped me get some great photography shots, provided water, and lent everyone a waist pouch to store their camera and water in (since Segways are all about balance and carrying a heavy purse won't help that!).
I had a wonderful time on this tour and highly recommend it. Whether it's your first day in Dresden and you are looking for a way to orientate yourself, or you have been there before and want to experience it in a cool new way, this is the tour for you! Take a look at the movie and photos below! If you want to book your own tour, then head over to their site.
